Framing - Coming Soon!

Earlier this week the framing team got to work putting in the floor joists.  A view from below.  It sat like this for 3 or 4 days and I couldn't figure out why they'd have a crew come and do all that work only to stop and leave it and not finish the job. This was my inexperience that frustrated me. I was up there today and ran into the framer. He was saying that the floor inspection was scheduled for Monday next week and that as soon as they got approval they'd be getting to work. So, hopefully that will be getting started next week. He said that he expects it to take 6 weeks to get the framing done. I was able to show him an area where we wanted to move a wall just slightly in a hallway to open up a powder bath. He was super helpful and friendly.  More wood was on the lot today and he said it was only the first floor. The lumber for the second level will be delivered soon. The pictures above show how I left it for the weekend. I hope to see some walls going up next week!...

There is wood on the premises!

This is the same load of wood from 2 different angles. That's how excited we were about it. In hindsight it seems a bit overkill.   Here's to hoping that there will be more wood and more crews working on framing the walls and such!

They finished backfilling and then they compacted the garage area and the area for the front porch and back patio with a special compactable soil.  They then put some gravel and rebar in the garage area preparing it for the slab to be poured. Then, it sat for about a week. Garage compacted Front porch compacted Back patio compacted Garage with gravel and rebar We'd drive by every day and see nothing, which was disappointing and a little frustrating. Then, one morning after dropping my son off for school I swung by the property and saw the trucks and guys working. I stood and watched them work for a while. I'm sure they thought I was crazy. It was about 40 degrees, SUPER windy, which makes the cold a million times worse and I was in a t-shirt and basketball shorts. I always appreciate watching people do a good job at whatever they are trained to do. These guys worked fast and as a team. I chatted with them for a bit and then had to ...
